UNIST Uni-Max Pro Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) System

A configurable MQL solution for complex machining processes

The Uni-Max® Pro from UNIST is a highly configurable minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) system designed for machining processes requiring multiple lubrication points, advanced actuation, or fluid output monitoring.

With support for 1 to 12 nozzles, the Uni-Max® Pro allows pumps to be controlled individually, in groups, or remotely to deliver a precise, repeatable amount of lubricant exactly where and when it is required. This provides the flexibility needed to integrate lubrication throughout a complex process

An Advanced MQL Solution for Complex Processes

Minimum Quantity Lubrication replaces conventional flood coolant with a very small, precisely controlled amount of high-quality lubricant applied directly at the interface between the cutting tool and workpiece.

Rather than cooling the process after heat has been generated, MQL reduces friction at the cutting edge and minimizes heat generation. This significantly reduces fluid consumption while maintaining excellent machining performance.

The Uni-Max® Pro takes this approach further with a modular architecture designed for more complex processes. Each actuation signal can control an individual pump or group of pumps, allowing a single system to manage lubrication for multiple operations or application points.

Multiple configurations

A System Tailored to your Process

Configure 1 to 12 outputs, choose fixed or adjustable output pumps, and add fluid output monitoring according to the requirements of your application.

Seamless Integration

Control Lubrication Points Individually or in Groups

Pumps can be actuated individually or grouped to lubricate different points at different stages of the process. Direct, remote, and common actuation options allow the system to integrate with more complex equipment.

Minimized Downtime

Designed to Keep Production Running

Pumps are tested to 12 million cycles, are self-priming, and are designed for easy maintenance. A fluid shut-off valve also allows pumps to be replaced without lubricant leakage.

A Configuration Tailored to your Process

Every process has different lubrication requirements. The number of points requiring lubrication, the amount of lubricant needed, application frequency, and how different operations are actuated can vary considerably from one machine to another.

The Uni-Max® Pro is designed around this reality. Its modular architecture allows different pumps, nozzles, actuation methods, and monitoring options to be combined to create a system tailored to the process rather than forcing the process to fit the system.

Advanced Control with Support for Multiple Actuation Signals

A single system can supply up to 12 nozzles. Pumps can be controlled individually or in groups, allowing different outputs to be actuated according to the requirements of each stage of the process.

Output Tailored to each Application

Positive-displacement pumps with 20, 40, or 60 µL outputs, available in fixed or adjustable configurations, allow lubricant delivery to be tailored to different application points.

Process Monitoring

Optional flow sensors allow lubricant delivery to be monitored, adding an extra level of process monitoring for applications where confirmation of fluid output is important.

Continuous or Shot Spray

The Uni-Max® Pro can be configured for either continuous spray or shot spray operation, depending on process requirements.

Continuous Spray

In continuous mode, the pumps provide a steady supply of lubricant while the system is operating. The amount applied can be adjusted by changing pump stroke and cycling frequency.

This configuration is particularly well suited to continuous operations such as:

  • Sawing
  • Milling
  • CNC machining
  • Turning
  • Routing

Shot Spray

In shot mode, the pumps deliver a controlled amount of lubricant in response to an actuation signal. The number of shots and quantity delivered can therefore be tailored to the operation.

This configuration is particularly well suited to intermittent operations such as:

  • Drilling
  • Tapping
  • Broaching
  • Forming
  • Cyclical machining

Uni-Max® Pro Features

Reliable Postive Displacement

Precise, Repeatable Lubricant Delivery

Adjustable or fixed 20μL, 40μL, or 60μL pumps deliver consistent output, with adjustable stroke and air volume control

Quick Connect Tubing

Easily Replace or Reposition Nozzles

Push-to-connect tubing simplifies the installation, replacement, and repositioning of lubrication nozzles.

Self-Priming

Simple, Reliable Start-Up

For hassle-free start-up, pumps draw fluid even if air is present

Fluid Shut-Off Valve

Cleaner Pump Maintenance

The fluid shut-off valve allows the fluid supply to be isolated for leak-free pump replacement, simplifying routine maintenance.

Uni-Max® Pro Applications

With its extensive configuration options, the Uni-Max® Pro is suitable for a wide range of machining operations and automated processes.

Automation Cells

Lubricate Multiple Operations from a Single System

Machining cells combining several processes may require lubrication at different locations and at different times. The Uni-Max® Pro can supply these points from a single system integrated with the machine’s actuation signals. For example, a single system can be configured to supply multiple spindles, a drill, and saw blades independently, allowing the lubrication requirements of an entire automated cell to be managed from one system.

Robotic Machining

Control Lubrication without Entering the Robotic Cell

In robotic machining applications, entering a cell may require a complete lockout/tagout procedure. Remote pump control allows lubrication to be adjusted without requiring access to the cell.

Positive-displacement pumps provide precise, consistent lubricant delivery even through long tubing runs, making the system particularly well suited to tooling mounted at the end of a robotic arm.

OEM Integration

A Configurable MQL Platform for Equipment Manufacturers

The modular design of the Uni-Max® Pro also makes it an attractive solution for machine builders and OEMs looking to integrate MQL directly into their equipment.

Other Applications

The Uni-Max® Pro can also be configured for a wide range of operations, including:

  • CNC lathes
  • CNC mills
  • CNC routers
  • Drilling
  • Milling
  • Tapping
  • Broaching
  • Turning
  • Band sawing
  • Friction drilling
  • Tube end forming
  • Mandrel tube bending
  • Foam cutting
  • Circular sawing
