UNIST Uni-Max® ST Minimum Quantity Lubrication (MQL) System

Reliable, precise minimum quantity lubrication for metal cutting

The Uni-Max® ST from Unist is a compact minimum quantity lubrication (MQL) system designed to deliver a precise and repeatable amount of lubricant directly to the cutting zone.

Ideal for straightforward metal-cutting applications, the Uni-Max® ST provides continuous or shot spray lubrication through one or two nozzle outputs, helping reduce lubricant consumption, eliminate the mess associated with flood coolant and maintain consistent machining performance.

Reliable MQL performance for metal cutting

Minimum Quantity Lubrication replaces conventional flood coolant with a very small, precisely controlled amount of high-quality lubricant applied directly at the interface between the cutting tool and workpiece.

Rather than cooling the process after heat has been generated, MQL reduces friction at the cutting edge and minimizes heat generation. The result is a cleaner machining environment with less fluid consumption while maintaining excellent tool and machining performance.

The Uni-Max® ST makes these benefits accessible in a simple, reliable system designed for applications requiring one or two lubrication points.

Consistent lubrication

Repeatable, accurate lubrication

Positive-displacement pumps deliver a controlled quantity of lubricant with each stroke for consistent output, regardless of changes in temperature or lubricant viscosity.

Proven reliability

Built for demanding industrial applications

Uni-Max® pumps are tested to 12 million cycles, providing dependable performance for long-term use in machining and sawing applications.

Low maintenance

Lubrication made simple

Self-priming pumps, quick-connect tubing and straightforward system components simplify installation, operation and routine maintenance while helping keep the work area clean.

Benefits of the Uni-Max® ST

  • Use as little as 2–4 oz of lubricant per shift
  • Continuous or shot spray
  • Eliminate manual lubrication
  • Improve tool life by up to 500% in suitable applications
  • Reduce the mess, maintenance and disposal associated with flood coolant
  • Simple installation
  • Produce cleaner, virtually dry chips
  • Help improve surface finish and part quality
  • Maintain a cleaner work environment
  • 1 ou 2 sorties de buse
  • Reduce lubricant consumption : Precise, repeatable lubricant delivery
  • Pumps tested to 12 million cycles
  • Use skin-friendly Coolube® lubricant
  • Self-priming positive-displacement pumps

Continuous spray or shot spray

Every machining process has different lubrication requirements. The Uni-Max® ST can be configured for either continuous spray or shot spray operation.

Continuous spray

In continuous mode, the pumps cycle while the system is actuated, maintaining a steady supply of lubricant to the cutting zone. This configuration is particularly well suited to continuous operations such as:

  • Band sawing
  • Circular sawing
  • Milling
  • Routing
  • Turning

Shot spray

In shot mode, the system delivers a controlled number of pump strokes when actuated. This allows a precise quantity of lubricant to be applied exactly when required. Shot spray is particularly well suited to intermittent operations such as:

  • Tapping
  • Drilling
  • Punching
  • Intermittent machining

The operating mode is selected when the system is configured and cannot be changed in the field.

Uni-Max® ST features

Reliable positive-displacement pumps

Positive-displacement pumps provide precise, repeatable lubricant output. Uni-Max® ST pumps are available in 20, 40 and 60 µL output configurations, with adjustable or fixed output depending on the system configuration.

Self-priming operation

The pumps are designed to draw lubricant even when air is present in the inlet line, helping provide hassle-free start-up and reliable operation.

Quick-connect tubing

Push-to-connect tubing makes nozzle installation and replacement quick and straightforward.

Typical applications

The Uni-Max® ST is suitable for a wide range of machining and cutting operations, including:

Band sawing

Controlled lubrication helps eliminate the mess associated with flood coolant while providing lubricant directly to the blade.

Circular sawing

The system can be integrated with saw actuation to provide lubrication during the cut, helping extend blade life and reduce galling.

CNC routing

One or two nozzles can provide controlled lubrication around the cutting tool for cleaner cuts, improved surface finish and minimal cleanup.

Tapping and drilling

Shot spray configurations can apply one or more precise quantities of lubricant during each cycle, helping eliminate manual lubrication and improve tool life.

Milling and turning

Precise MQL delivery reduces friction at the cutting edge while producing chips that are significantly cleaner than those produced with conventional flood coolant.

Other applications include broaching, friction drilling and foam cutting.

Coolube® Lubricant

Lifetime Pump Warranty

For optimum MQL performance, the Uni-Max® ST can be paired with Coolube®, Unist's lubricant specifically formulated for minimum quantity lubrication applications. Coolube® creates a durable lubricating film at the cutting interface to reduce friction and heat while helping improve tool life and surface finish.

Uni-Max® ST systems are covered by Unist's standard one-year product warranty. When Unist lubricants are used exclusively in the system, the pumps qualify for Unist's Lifetime Pump Warranty.
