The UNIST Mini-Piggyback™ is a compact, portable, fully pneumatic lubrication system designed for direct installation on positive-feed drills, particularly those used in the aerospace industry. It delivers a precise amount of lubricant directly to the cutting tool to improve hole quality and extend cutting tool life.
Featuring a positive-displacement pump, independent air and fluid adjustments, and automatic operation, the Mini-Piggyback™ provides precise and repeatable lubrication during drilling operations. Available in continuous or intermittent output configurations, it also features a removable, refillable reservoir for easy lubricant replenishment.
The Mini-Piggyback™ is designed to provide precise and repeatable lubrication directly on positive-feed drills. Its fully pneumatic operation automatically synchronizes lubricant delivery with drill operation, without requiring an electrical power supply.
The system uses compressed air supplied downstream from the drill trigger. It therefore operates whenever the drill is activated and stops dispensing lubricant when the drill is turned off. Its positive-displacement pump ensures controlled lubricant delivery, while independent adjustments for atomizing air and fluid output allow lubrication to be tailored to the cutting tool's requirements.
The Mini-Piggyback™ is available in two configurations. Continuous output provides a steady supply of lubricant for operations with long drilling cycles, while intermittent output delivers a single shot of lubricant for smaller cutting tools and short drilling cycles. The lubricant is contained in a removable reservoir that can be easily replaced when empty. Empty reservoirs can be refilled using the UNIST reservoir refill station, making them ready for reuse.
The system can be supplied by a removable reservoir mounted directly on the unit or by a remote gravity-fed reservoir. A pressurized reservoir supply is also available. This flexibility allows lubricant supply to be adapted to different installation requirements.
Drilling with pneumatic positive-feed drills (ADUs)
A unique feature of the Mini-Piggyback™ system is its removable, interchangeable fluid reservoir. This allows lubricant to be replenished almost instantly by simply replacing the empty reservoir with a full one, maximizing tool productivity.
Reservoirs can be refilled with the appropriate lubricant, eliminating the need for disposable cartridges.
